Steve Thornton was all praises for Graeme Walton, Craig Peacock and Sean McMorrow on Thursday Night as the trio scored the tying goal and the winning goal over the Hull Stingrays in the must win game for the Giants. Walton fired home a perfect pass from Shane Johnson for the game tying goal and added an assist on Peacock’s winning goal late in the third period thanks to some seriously hard work in the corners that lead to the turnover.
“Wally had a great game, as did his linemates. They won us the game and that’s what we need every once in a while, some goals from some unlikely sources,” said Thornton.
“There was one particular shift in the second period when their line went out and hit everything that moved. Peacock hammered their player coach Sylvain Cloutier and Wally and Sean both ran a couple guys through the walls. It lifted the team and the next shift, Shields scored our opening goal. That shift turned the game around for us.”
Walton’s goal was his first of the season, and he was rightfully selected as the Man of the Match in Thursday’s win over the Stingrays.
