Belfast Giants Secure Warrior Cup Spot in Germany
The two-day tournament is set to take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.
The Belfast Giants will travel to Germany this September to compete in the 2026 Warrior Cup in Kaufbeuren, as Adam Keefe’s side prepares for their 2026/27 Elite League and Challenge Cup campaigns.
Hosted by ESV Kaufbeuren at the Energie Schwaben Arena, the Warrior Cup has become one of Europe’s most respected pre-season tournaments, bringing together clubs from across the continent for a weekend of high-quality competition before domestic seasons get underway.
Steve Thornton, Sports Director at The Odyssey Trust, said: “The Warrior Cup presents a fantastic opportunity for our organisation to compete against strong European opposition in a highly professional environment. Pre-season tournaments like this are invaluable in helping our players prepare for the demands of a new season, while also continuing to grow the Belfast Giants brand internationally. We know our fans always travel in incredible numbers and we’re excited to see them bring their passion and energy to Kaufbeuren.”
The Warrior Cup is widely recognised for its unique atmosphere, attracting travelling fans from across Europe each year. The Giants’ participation in the Warrior Cup is another exciting opportunity for the club to compete on the European stage, while giving players and supporters the chance to experience something different during pre-season.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, commented: “You want pre-season games to be competitive and intense, and tournaments like the Warrior Cup give you exactly that. Playing against quality European teams pushes the group early and helps us establish habits, systems, and chemistry before the season starts. It’s a great test for the players and an exciting opportunity for the club.”
With the four participating teams yet to be finalised, further details regarding fixtures, ticket information, and supporter travel will be announced in due course. For more information about the Warrior Cup, please click here.
