Roach Re-Signs for Sixth Season With Giants

First joining the Giants for the 2018/19 season, the Saskatoon-born defenceman has made more than 225 appearances in teal, contributing over 160 total points from the blue line. The 6’1” Canadian, who has lifted eight trophies during his time in Belfast, joins the recently re-signed David Goodwin, J.J. Piccinich, Scott Conway, Jordan Kawaguchi, and Mike Lee in a core of crucial returning faces.

Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, said: “Roachy [Josh Roach] has been a constant presence within this team over the last few years and someone who we’re incredibly pleased to be bringing back next season. He's been part of some of this club’s biggest moments in recent years and has played a big role in delivering several trophies to Belfast. Despite having some unfortunate spells with injury over the last few years, Roachy’s mindset and attitude have never faltered, so he’s an important player for us to have retained.”

After four successful seasons with the University of Saskatchewan, during which he tallied an impressive 118 total points in 147 appearances for the Huskies, Roach began his professional career in Belfast and recorded 69 total points in 81 games in all competitions during his first season. Following spells further afield in Europe and in North America with Black Wings Linz, Drake Canucks, and Kenaston Buzzards between 2019 and 2023, Roach returned to Belfast during the treble-winning 2022/23 season and has since iced on more than 145 occasions.

Commenting on his return to the Belfast Giants, Josh Roach said: "I am very excited to be back in teal for another season.
