LBM Belfast Giants coach, Steve Thornton has issued a rallying cry to his team as they prepare to take to the ice for two important Elite League games this weekend. The Giants will first take to the ice on Saturday evening in Hull as they seek to continue their good record against the Stingrays. Then on Sunday the LBM Belfast Giants take on the Newcastle Vipers at the Odyssey Arena, face off 6pm. Currently in 6th position in the Elite League, the Vipers have suffered of late due the release of key players, Mark Rooneem and Tyler Kindle and the injury to Captain David Longstaff. However, suffering or not, the Giants will be well aware of the danger that the Newcastle Vipers posess, taking points from the Belfast side on no less than four occasions this season.

“Newcastle and Hull are both teams that can cause us problems this weekend,” said Thornton. “We have a great record against Hull this season but I expect a battle in their rink come Saturday after their performance against league leaders, Coventry Blaze last weekend. On Sunday, we will have to be wary of the Vipers. They may have been struggling of late but they have a good record against us and have enjoyed far too much success against us this year.”

“We are sitting in a good position right now and we have been producing good results of late. We have scored 17 goals in our last three games and conceded four and we need to keep that form going into this weekend against Hull and Newcastle. Coventry’s lead at the top has been reduced to four points now and it is very possible for the Giants to be sitting at the summit come Monday morning and that will only be possible if we stay focused on each game as it comes. This weekend could prove to be vital when we look back at the end of the season.”

Ticket prices for Sunday night’s game are as follows:

Concession: £10.00 (£10.50 on Gameday)
Child: £8.00 (£8.50 on Gameday)
