This Saturday the LBM Belfast Giants take on the Edinburgh Capitals @ 7pm at the Odyssey Arena to begin a weekend of huge importance for the Belfast side. The Capitals, who have worked their way into 5th in the Elite League standings, will have a say in who takes home the Elite League title this season as they take on the Giants on three occasions (including Saturday) and the Coventry Blaze twice. Some may doubt the ability of the Capitals to take points off the league leaders however last Sunday they took the Coventry Blaze into overtime, only to lose by the odd goal in eleven.
Speaking exclusively to belfastgiants.com Giants’ coach Steve Thornton had this to say on the threat of the Caps, “They are a very skilled team, good on the powerplay and have the ability to beat you one on one. Edinburgh coach, Doug Christiansen has done a great job there and has his team playing on the same page night after night,” said Thornton, “We want to play the game in their end of the ice and put as much pressure on their goalie as possible. We also have to be aware of who we are out on the ice against as their top guys are very dangerous and will hurt you if given any opportunity.”
Faceoff tomorrow night between the Giants and the Capitals is at 7pm and doors will be open from 6pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Odyssey Arena Box Office on (028) 9073 9074 or via Ticketmaster.
