The draw for the semi finals of the 2008/2009 British Knockout Cup has been announced. The Coors Belfast Giants have been drawn against the Cardiff Devils where they will have home ice advantage in the second leg, whilst in the other semi final the Newcastle Vipers will play either the Manchester Phoenix or Hull Stingrays.
Both ties will be played on a home and away basis and all the clubs will release the dates of their games as quickly as possible.
An Elite League spokesperson commented, “The draw for the semi-finals has thrown up two intriguing ties with an all-Celtic affair and an all-English game, and added extra incentive to both Manchester and Hull for their second leg to see who will face Newcastle. The draw was made Wednesday evening ahead of the final place being decided so as to allow all the clubs as much time as possible to arrange suitable dates for the games.”
