LBM Belfast Giants General Manager Todd Kelman believes that the addition of a team in Braehead (Glasgow, Scotland) next season is a very positive move for the Elite League.
“I was over in Braehead Arena a few weeks back and the set up is great. Ice Hockey has a rich tradition in Scotland and we are happy to have another team so close to Belfast to compete against.”
“I am already anticipating a great rivalry between Braehead and Belfast because they have now become our closest rival in the league. I can remember a fantastic rivalry between the Ayr Scottish Eagles and the Giants back in the first two seasons of our existence and I can see the potential rivalry between the Giants and the Clan starting from day one.”
The Braehead Clan have already confirmed their first league match on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010. Stay tuned to the www.braeheadclan.com in the coming weeks as they make more announcements regarding a Coach, GM and eventually their first player signing.
