Kelman In Boston As Bruins Game Is Confirmed

Well Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s official – The Boston Bruins are coming to Belfast in October! There has been a great deal of interest and speculation about this game over the last few months, but we were unable to comment until we could make it official, which happened on Monday  here in Boston. I had this idea months ago, actually it was back in November that I originally called the NHL to try and pitch this idea to bring an NHL game to Belfast.  Three trips to the East Coast of America and a lot of hard work behind the scenes by a number of people has made this dream of bringing the NHL to Belfast a reality.

The city of Boston has and always will have a great connection with Belfast and the entire island of Ireland and I know that we are planning to make this world renowned hockey club feel welcomed when they arrive here in October.  We also want to make the Bruins supporters feel welcome and we hope that many of the Bruins fans will make the trip over to enjoy everything that Northern Ireland has to offer.

Speaking of fans, this game is going to be the biggest ice hockey event we have ever had in Belfast and we wanted all the ice hockey fans across the UK and Ireland to have an even bigger reason to come see the Bruins game.  This is why as a league we decided to make an All-Star Team to take on the Bruins, because we want Panthers fans, Steelers fans, Blaze fans, Stingrays fans, Devils fans, Vipers fans, Clan fans, Stars fans and Capitals fans to all be excited to be a part of this once in a lifetime event.

We are going to make it easy for our season ticket holders and all Elite League Season Ticket Holders to get their tickets for the match and the full details on how we are going to handle bookings will be released in the next couple of days when I return to Belfast.

In closing, I want all of the fans across the UK and Ireland to realise that this game is for all of you.  If we didn’t have such great fans throughout the league and across the UK and Ireland, I wouldn’t be confident that another high profile event could take place, but we all see how great the playoff weekend is every year and this season, all of you will have two major weekend events to look forward to. The NHL wanted this to happen, the Bruins wanted to come to Belfast and I plan to make this a memorable event for all of us involved in the game.

I think we are all going to be Bruins fans by the time we see them over on our side of the pond for October 2nd, 2010.
