Ruthless Giants Hit Capitals For Six

The Stena Line Belfast Giants gave the Odyssey faithful some early Christmas cheer with a resounding 6-0 win over the Edinburgh Capitals. The Giants were in control of the game from the outset with Darryl Lloyd putting the home team infront after just 3 minutes as he skated out from the corner after some good work along the boards before slipping the puck under Nathan Craze to make it 1-0. Despite numerous scoring chances  Craze and the Capitals defense stood firm and denied the Giants any further goals in the opening period.

In the second frame it was Lloyd who would again find himself on the scoresheet doubling both his tally at 25.11. The Giants then put some daylight between themselves and Edinburgh, netting 2 quick goals just over a minute apart. Adam Keefe got the first at 28.29 before George Awada chipped in to net the Giants 4th at 29.31.

10 minutes later with the period drawing to a close the Giants again struck twice in less than a minute with Jon Pelle tidying up an end to end rush to make it 5-0 before Lloyd completed his hat-trick with just 5 seconds before the buzzer sounded to end the period.

Lloyds goal was to wrap up the scoring, however credit must be given to the Giants defensive corps and penalty killing units for shutting the Capitals offense down and protecting Murphy’s shutout.
