It’s Hard Being A Spectator

Hi Giants Fans, hope everyone is enjoying the season thus far. Personally I have had an exceptionally great time living in Belfast. This has been my first time out of North America and so far the experience has been a positive one. Some seasons seem to fly by while others move at a snails pace, this season for me has been the later of the two.

Injuries are a part of the game of hockey and rarely does a player make it through a season being 100 percent healthy. In my case where a few injuries have kept me out of the lineup for a number of games, the word “frustrating” is an understatement.

Watching your team win or lose games can be bordering on torture. It’s hard to see my teammates work so hard and come out on the short end of the score, as an injured spectator you just want to jump on the ice and help out. Even when watching the boys win a big game, the experience is a little bitter sweet when you miss out on the great moments within and around a victory with people that I have become so close to.

We are coming to the last part of the season and I feel like we are in a good position. We have battled as a team through tough times and short staffing and have come out the other end still hovering at the top of the league. True satisfaction comes through achieving by enduring; the Giants and fans have definitely endured so far. I truly believe that all the hard work, dedication, and support will pay off.

Thank you to all of our supporters whom I have had the opportunity to chat with. I have met some of the nicest people here in Belfast and would also like to thank you for your support for me personally through these recent frustrating times.

I will leave you now with one of my favorite and fairly relevant quotes, “Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want…”
