In the past week, I have been up to quite a bit of stuff, painting, traveling and spending time with my family. We spent about 12 hrs total over two days painting an apartment from top to bottom, and let me tell you, painting is fun for about the first half hour then that’s it. It is when you are doing things like this that it makes me really appreciate that I play hockey for a living and don’t have to do a job like this for 8 hrs a day. I am sure it is good for some, but I much prefer the hockey!
Our weekend in Edinburgh was fun last weekend, we had a great day on Saturday, the weather was great. We had an awesome meal outside in this great cafe which had a courtyard in the middle away from the street, so that was nice. Then we went for dinner with my uncle, his wife (Stephen’s mum) and Stephen and Nikki. It was a good dinner, but we didn’t eat until about 1130pm! Then we headed back to the apartment after and watched the hockey game, I made it until about 3 am, then seeing as our bed was on the floor in front of the TV it was pass out time for me. Sunday was super rainy, so we just went for lunch and then drove around for a while. I think it is funny when you go to a nice restaurant and you are dressed casual, or wear a baseball hat, the wait staff usually gives you attitude like you have no cash and are going to stiff them on the bill. haha. I find that is very common here in the UK, where as in the States, or even more LA its hard to tell who has money as everyone usually dresses down and there are so many rich younger people.
We are going to Belfast tomorrow for a couple days, to visit some friends, check out some possible areas to live and work on some other things we have going on. I think it is amazing when you haven’t been to a city in a couple years how much has changed. I am excited to look around and see where we are going to live. We managed to get a really nice hotel booked online, we got a super cheap deal on it considering what hotel it is! We are heading back to Canada in a week. I think we are almost ready to go, there is probably a ton of things that will come up the day before we leave, it always seems like that. I am looking forward to going to BC, it is so beautiful there. Kristy’s mum’s place is so nice, it is right on the river and when she is at work it is so quiet!!! I am only kidding, she is a great lady and is Italian and can really cook. I don’t mind cooking in the summer, I love using the BBQ and you get some good steaks in Canada, so that’s usually my summer meal of choice.
Well, I will write a little report of how my trip went in Belfast when I get back. I have to go and paint some more today, hopefully the last day of that. Hope everyone is enjoying the summer and looking forward to the season.
