The Stena Line Belfast Giants maintained their ascendancy at the top of the Challenge Cup Group A standings with a convincing 7-2 win in Kirkaldy as they clashed with the Fife Flyers for the second time in as many weeks. The Giants got off to an early lead and despite Fife netting twice during the game the visitors were by far the superior team outshooting their hosts by 47 shots to 18.
A standout performance from Benoit Doucet seen the Giants forward net a hat-trick and single strikes from Derek LeBlanc, Robert Dowd, Darry Lloyd and Mark Garside were enough to secure 2 Challenge Cup points for the Giants as they head to Edinburgh tomorrow night to take on the Capitals in the Elite League.
