Giants Sweep Stars With 6-2 Home Win

With a 6-2 victory at the Odyssey Arena the Stena Line Belfast Giants completed a regular season sweep of the Dundee Stars with Robert Dowd picking up man of the match in a game dominated for the most part by the home team. From just the 3rd minute the Giants took the lead, which they held for the remainder of the game, comfortably seeing off the challenge from the visitors to record a well deserved 2 points.

The Giants got off to the best possible start as captain Jeremy Rebek fired them in front on the powerplay at 3.08. The home team then doubled their lead at 14.22 with a strike from Craig Peacock.

At 28.58 Graeme Walton added the Giants third goal, and this turned out to be the game winner. The Stars pulled one back at 31.49 as Jeff Hutchins netted on the powerplay. However, just over a minute later Robert Dowd restored the Giants three-goal lead as he netted at 32.57.

Dundee got their second goal of the night at 46.01 as John Dolan slotted past Murphy but that was as close as they were to get as the Giants added a further two at 48.05 from Darryl Lloyd and then Jeff Mason at 57.18 to complete the scoring.
