The Stena Line Belfast Giants started a busy Post-Chritsmas week of games in grand fashion with a 7-2 win over the Braehead Clan on Monday Night. Graeme Walton opened the scoring with his second goal of the season but the Clan tied the game a minute and a half later on the powerplay to tie the game at 1-1. Adam Keefe made it 2-1 for the visiting Giants with just under 4 minutes remaining in the opening 20 minutes, which is how the first period ended.
The Giants dominated the second period, scoring 3 times courtesy of Jeremy Rebek at 6:18 on the powerplay, Craig Peacock at 13:33 and Darryl Lloyd at 17:24, while at the other end of the rink, the Clan scored their second goal of the game again on the powerplay to end the period 5-2 in favour of the Giants.
The Giants continued to roll in the third period, with another 2 goals from Darryl Lloyd to give him his second hat-trick in a row. Other notable performances came from Jeremy Rebek and Adam Keefe who both scored a goal and added 2 assists while Mark Garside collected 3 assists.
The Giants face the Clan on December 27th at the Odyssey Arena in the second game of the home and home clash between these two Elite League rivals.
