The Stena Line Belfast Giants are now days away from the beginning of 2019/20 and a special 20th anniversary season. The landmark season sees the Giants begin the campaign in the Champions Hockey League for the first time ever.
The Giants participation in Europe’s premier hockey competition is thanks to the success of the 2018/19 team, who posted the most successful season in the organisation’s history with the Continental Cup Silver Medal, Erhardt Conference, Challenge Cup and, of course, the Elite League Championship.
We would like to pay tribute to our class of 2018/19 and those who are not returning to Belfast for the upcoming season. Last season left us with memories to last a lifetime as well as three titles to defend with an exciting and unique opportunity in the form of the Champions League.
A GIANT thank you to each and every one of our 2018/19 team including players, staff and their families.
“The goal for this off-season was to build a team that will be able to compete on all fronts again this season,” said Head Coach Adam Keefe.
“Some of last season’s team have decided to retire after excellent careers that they should be proud of while others have moved on to new organisations.”
“We will never forget the 2018/19 team – they were warriors throughout the season and leave behind plenty of memorable moments for the fans and the city of Belfast.”
“Winning championships always leaves a bond with each and every one of the players and, with preparations taking a step up this week, that is something we will be impressing on our 2019/20 team.”
