His first season in a Giants uniform has been an impressive one, raking up over 70 points and 180 penalty minutes. Hutchins has it all, the ability to score goals, as well as set them up for others and he certainly is not afraid of the physical side of the game either. Standing at 6ft tall and weighing 200lbs, Hutchins has the power and strength needed to win games night after night. Last season was Hutchins first spent playing hockey outside of North America. Courtenay said, 'Jeff achieved 21 goals and 46 points for Coventry last season. He has a superb work ethic and is a fantastic addition to our bench.'

Hutchins, aged 28, from Toronto spent three years with Mississippi Sea Wolves in the East Coast Hockey League, and had been regularly called up to the American Hockey League. He also played in the ECHL All-Star game, registering a slapshot of 92.1mph in the skills contest. Not frightened to drop the gloves in the fight for the puck he also knows his way to the back of the net, scoring 56 goals and registering 55 assists with the Sea Wolves, as well as clocking up over 450 penalty minutes.
