Philippe comes to the Giants as a midseason acquisition, following the season ending bicep injury sustained by first choice netminder Mike Minard. DeRouville brings with him a wealth of experience having played with various clubs around Europe including a spell with the Ayr Scottish Eagles where he played along side Coors Belfast Giants Head Coach Ed Courtenay.

DeRouville has played 3 games in the NHL after being selected in the 1992 entry draft 5th round 115 th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
