On the back of the pre-season tryouts for local players, Hugh spent two weeks training with the Giants before being called up late in the season to replace departing backup netminder Kevin Kelly.

This however was not the first time Hugh has been in Giants colours. In the 2004/2005 season Hugh played backup to Chris McGimpsey following a suspension to first choice netminder Martin Klempa.

Having played with Team Ireland in the 2006 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, Hugh is relishing the opportunity to play professional ice hockey with the Coors Belfast Giants and should be an exciting prospect for future seasons.
