This is Kevin's first season as a Giant after the departure of Nathan Craze to the Bracknell Bee's during the summer break. The league ruling was changed to allow the Elite league clubs to sign any player registered and playing with the Irish Ice Hockey Association as additional ITC players over and above the current 10 ITC players allowed per team which opened the door for Kelly to sign with the team. This represented a major opportunity for players to develop their game with an Elite League team and will allow that player to continue representing Ireland in the national team. The Giants seized the opportunity to sign Irish international goaltender Kevin Kelly, as back up to import netminder, Mike Minard. Inexperienced to the Elite league, it will not take Kelly long to learn the ropes and be a solid replacement for Mini if the need arises.
