Walton returns to the Giants for his fourth season patrolling the blueline and is probably one of the most under-rated defenders in the league. The fact that he’s not often in the limelight tells you that he doesn’t often get it wrong. A stay-at-home defender, Graeme’s first job is to clear his own zone and he does it like a pro. Belfast born 26-year-old Graeme made history in the 2003 season by becoming the first Northern Irish born Giant to register a point.
Walton has demonstrated a great talent beyond his years and fantastic focus when coming up against the League’s top forwards and has showed that he has the talent to become a top defenseman in the future. Walton played his entire minor hockey with the Castlereagh Knights before he then joined Giants teammates Mark Morrison and Chris McGimpsey at the Solway Sharks in the Scottish National League. This led the way to his first professional contract with the Belfast Giants in 2003.
