One of the biggest Steels of the off season was 'Magical' Mark Dutiaume leaving Sheffield to join the Coors Belfast Giants. 30-year-old Dutiaume spent the last four seasons playing for the Sheffield Steelers, except for a brief spell spent playing in Italy in 2005. Whilst playing for Sheffield last season, Mark led the Elite League in goal scoring with 34 goals and achieved an overall points tally of 71 points which placed him fourth in the overall player rankings. Mark has continued where he left off last season leading the Giants in assists (37) and overall points (58).
Born January 31 1977 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Mark was drafted 42nd overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. After playing for numerous teams in North America, Dutiaume moved to Britain and joined the London Knights in 2001. He moved to the Sheffield Steelers a year later but only for a brief spell before joining the Fife Flyers to play along side his brother Todd for that season. Dutiaume returned to the Steelers in the 2002-03 season and became a fan favourite with the Steelers fans during his time in Sheffield. In the inaugural Elite Ice Hockey League season in 2003-04, Dutiaume led the league in assists and points, leading the Steelers to the league championship. During the Steelers' disappointing 04/05 campaign Dutiaume left Sheffield for Italy and joined Bolzano. However, it wasn't long before Steelers fans saw Mark back in a Steelers jersey as he was once again leading the team in goals, assists and points.
