24 year-old American defenseman Tom Dignard comes to the Giants from the Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League where he posted 32 points in 48 games in the regular season and added 5 points in 9 post-season playoff games. He finished as one of the teams’ top scoring defensemen and earned a call-up to the clubs’ American Hockey League affiliate the Lake Erie Monsters.

Before his time in the Central Hockey League Dignard spent 4 years playing NCAA Hockey at Yale University and after averaging a point a game in his senior year he was called up to the Albany River Rats of the AHL for 2 games before joining Tulsa for the 2010/11 season.

Tom comes to Belfast as part of the Giants’ scholarship programme with the University of Ulster and adds another offensive-minded defenseman to the Giants lineup. With stellar reviews from a number of former teammates and coaches Dignard will be a fantastic addition, bringing great assets to the team in all three zones.
