Biography
Belfast-born defenceman Kell Beattie returns to the Giants following his professional debut in 2021-22.
A product of the Junior Belfast Giants setup, Beattie progressed through the Belfast U16 and U20 ranks, before making a move into the British lower leagues to further his development with ice time.
Beattie made his debut last season in a home/away double header weekend against the Fife Flyers in the Challenge Cup, alongside fellow Belfast-born player Mack Stewart.
He went on to finish the season with EIHL League and Challenge Cup winners’ medals.
After his career with the Junior Giants, 18-year-old defenceman Kell Beattie joined the NIHL 1’s Solway Sharks in 2021-22, scoring 5 goals and adding 9 assists for a total of 14 points in 29 games played. The Sharks finished the 21-22 season as NIHL 1 National Champions, NIHL 1 North Champions and NIHL 1 Playoff Champions.
Beattie represented Scotland in the EIHA Conference at U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels- winning two Championships (U13, U15). He was selected to the Team GB World Junior Championships squad this summer, adding 1 goal and 2 assists to a solid defensive performance on the way to a bronze medal.
