The SSE Arena to be used as new Vaccination Centre
Further to this morning’s announcement from Health Minister, Robin Swann, we are pleased to confirm that The SSE Arena Belfast will be the location for a new Covid-19 mass vaccination centre.
Currently, restrictions mean The Arena cannot host ice hockey and all of the world-class events we all know and love. We are proud to play our part and support the health service in any way we can.
Adrian Doyle, Director of Xperience Operations, The Odyssey Trust, owners of The SSE Arena, Belfast and the Belfast Giants said: “The Odyssey Trust continues to support the valiant ongoing efforts of our health service in any way that it can. The SSE Arena Belfast was built with a founding vision to bring world-class leisure and entertainment to the people of Northern Ireland but also to contribute to the community and enhance societal wellbeing.
“At a time when current restrictions mean that the Arena cannot be used for concerts, shows and events, we are proud to play our part in this major new effort to further extend the vaccination programme. This is a hugely positive step forward in the fight against Covid-19. It will also bring us closer to a return to the live events, entertainment and experiences we all love and have greatly missed throughout this pandemic and we are proud to continue to support that effort.”
It is anticipated that the vaccine centre will open in spring and run into the summer. The Arena will provide an update on any impacted shows as soon as possible. All tickets will remain valid.
