Stena Line first pledged its support for the men in teal as title sponsor ahead of the 2011/12 season, during which the Giants were crowned Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) champions - one of 10 titles accrued throughout the 12-year partnership to date, including the coveted domestic treble in the 2022/23 season.
Headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, Stena Line is one of Europe’s leading ferry companies, with 39 vessels and 18 routes across Northern Europe. Stena Line is also the largest ferry operator on the Irish Sea and continues to offer the widest choice of routes between the island of Ireland, Britain, and France.
Orla Noonan, travel commercial manager, Irish Sea at Stena Line, said: “We are thrilled to extend our long-running sponsorship of the Belfast Giants. It has been a pleasure to work with the Giants over the years, and a joy to watch the team become one of the most successful in Northern Europe.
“On behalf of Stena Line, I would like to wish the Belfast Giants the very best of luck for the season ahead. I’m sure it will be another memorable one for the fans and, of course, we will be with you every step of the way.”
The relationship between the Belfast Giants and Stena Line extends back to 2008, with the ferry company regularly transporting players, supporters, and visiting teams throughout the UK all season long – something that has remained the same for upwards of 15-years.
Steve Thornton, group head of commercial and hockey at The Odyssey Trust, commented: “Being crowned treble champions in the 2022/23 season was one of the biggest accomplishments in the club’s history, and something we will be forever proud of. As we look ahead to a new season, where defending our three titles is the goal, we have very much set our sights on continuing our trajectory – continuing to make our fans and city proud.
“Without a doubt, our success wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of title sponsor, Stena Line. For over a decade, we have enjoyed a hugely successful partnership, and I look forward to sharing even more success in the future.”
