The Belfast-based taxi firm is Northern Ireland’s biggest and most experienced taxi company, with a fleet of over 1,000 cars and drivers. A family-run business, fonaCAB was originally founded by Sidney McCausland in 1962, with William McCausland – Sidney’s son and current CEO – growing the business to become the largest taxi company on the island of Ireland and the fifth largest in the United Kingdom.
Steve Thornton, group head of commercial and hockey at The Odyssey Trust, said: “As we have been over the past 19-years, we are immensely proud to be working alongside fonaCAB this season – renewing our longest-running partnership. Year after year, the Giants rely on fonaCAB to shuttle players to and from airports, and across the country, with their first experience of Northern Ireland often being fonaCAB drivers, who leave a welcoming and warm impression on behalf of the local community.”
William McCausland, managing director of fonaCAB, commented: “After yet another incredible season, fonaCAB are delighted to be sponsoring the Belfast Giants again in 2023/24 - our twentieth year together.
“While similarities between fonaCAB and the Giants might not seem obvious, we both share the same desire to be the best at what we do. Dedication, professionalism, continuous performance improvement, and teamwork – these are all qualities that make the Giants such a success, and ones that we aim to achieve in our business every day.”
In addition to supporting the Giants, fonaCAB continue to be valued partners for various sporting, community, and charitable endeavours across Northern Ireland. One of the company’s core values is ‘Working Together’, having spent decades developing lasting relationships with both customers and communities.
William McCausland added: “We’re proud to be partners with the Giants for what will be another fantastic season, and we look forward to seeing players, fans, and everyone associated with the team in a fonaCAB whenever you need us.”
