Belfast Giants Secure 2026/27 Continental Cup Place
The Belfast Giants can confirm that the club will compete in the 2026/27 IIHF Continental Cup, marking another opportunity for the organisation to represent the Elite Ice Hockey League on the European stage.
Qualification for the competition comes following the Giants' Elite League championship-winning campaign in 2025/26, which saw Adam Keefe's side secure the league title and earn eligibility for European competition.
The Giants have been drawn into Group C of the competition and are set to face Polish champions GKS Katowice, French side Dragons de Rouen, and the winner of Group A in the third round of the tournament, scheduled to take place between 13 and 15 November 2026.
Steve Thornton, Sports Director at The Odyssey Trust, said: “Competing in European competition is always a privilege and something that everyone associated with the Belfast Giants takes great pride in. Representing Belfast, our supporters, and the Elite League on the continental stage is an opportunity we relish.
“The Continental Cup provides a unique challenge against high-quality opposition from across Europe, and we're excited to continue showcasing our organisation in international competition.”
The IIHF Continental Cup is Europe's second-tier club competition, bringing together league champions and leading clubs from across the continent in pursuit of silverware. The tournament has a rich history and provides teams with the opportunity to test themselves against some of the strongest clubs outside of the Champions Hockey League.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, commented: "European hockey presents a different test for players and coaches, and it's an experience that helps us continue to grow as a group. We've enjoyed some memorable nights in Europe over the years, and we're looking forward to the challenge that awaits us this season."
Further information regarding fixtures, venue details, and ticketing will be communicated in due course.
