Introducing Belfast Giants' Audio Description Commentary

The Belfast Giants are excited to launch a brand-new access commentary service at all home games – the first of its kind in the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or visiting The SSE Arena, Belfast for the first time, this new service ensures everyone can enjoy the full experience of live Giants hockey.
We’ve teamed up with Alan March Sports (AMS) - the experts behind similar services at Premier League football clubs like Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Nottingham Forest – to bring their world-class experience to Belfast. Their team has delivered live audio description commentary at some of the biggest sporting events in the world, from the Olympic and Paralympic Games to FIFA World Cups, and now they’re helping to make our game nights more inclusive than ever.
What is Access Commentary?
Access commentary is a live description service designed for fans who are visually impaired. Our specially trained volunteer commentators describe all the on-ice action as it happens, so fans never miss a moment of the excitement.
How to Access the Service
You can book an audio description pack in advance using the contact form or collect one on game night from the concierge desk in the arena’s ground-floor foyer (subject to availability).
Each pack includes:
- A handheld receiver.
- A pair of headphones (you can also bring your own – just make sure they have a standard headphone jack).
When collecting your pack, you’ll just need to leave a form of ID and fill out a quick form. Your ID will be returned once the pack is handed back after the game.
For those with hearing aids, please switch your device to the ‘T’ position to connect the receiver.
