Legendary Dickson Returns for 16th Season in Belfast
The Belfast Giants are pleased to announce that long-serving netminder Andrew Dickson has re-signed with the club for the 2026/27 season.
From Ballymoney, the upcoming season will mark the homegrown 38-year-old’s 16th season with the Giants, having first joined the club during the 2009/10 campaign. Over his 15 seasons to date, Dickson has made 52 appearances for the Giants and been involved with 14 championships – seven Elite League titles, five Challenge Cups, and two Elite League Playoff titles.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, said: "There's no doubt that Dicko [Andrew Dickson] is the heart and soul of our club. He epitomises what it means to be a Belfast Giant, and his unwavering commitment to this city and organisation is second to none. Dicko's impact extends far beyond the ice, often helping new players to feel part of the club from day one, which is something that cannot be taken for granted."
An ever-present and well-respected figure in the locker room, Dickson is a product of the Junior Belfast Giants system, cutting his teeth with a number of local teams, including the Belfast City Bruins and Castlereagh Spartans. An out-and-out fan favourite, Dickson's role cannot be understated, and his unmatched dedication, professionalism, and passion for the club have earned him legendary status not only among the Teal Army but across the Elite League.
Commenting on his return for the 2026/27 season, Andrew Dickson said: "It's always an honour to come back for another season. This club and the people who make it what it is are truly amazing, so I'm pleased to support the team however I can to help it be as successful as possible. The coaches have built a really strong group of guys so far, so I'm excited to see what's in store for the team next year."
