The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the signing of Ryan Lowney for our 20th anniversary season.
With injuries taking their toll on the lineup in recent weeks – the Giants have moved to add the 25 year old defenceman to the blueline ahead of this weekend’s double header in Nottingham.

Lowney, who will wear #55 for the Giants, arrives in Belfast from HKM Zvolen of Slovakia. Prior to his first season in Europe, the 5’8” American played three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League with the Fort Wayne Komets in 2017/18.
Lowney posted 13 goals and 57 assists, good for 70 points in 146 games played and was awarded the Komets’ Defenseman of the Year during his final season in Fort Wayne.
The native of Redford, Michigan spent four years in Division 1 NCAA hockey with Ferris State University and recorded collegiate totals of seven goals and 58 points in 158 games with the Bulldogs.
In 2015/16 – Lowney helped Ferris State to the Broadmoor Trophy as WCHA Champions, it’s its first post-season league championship in school history.
