Colin Shields, Mark Garside and Andrew Dickson will return to the Stena Line Belfast Giants lineup for the 2015/16 Elite League season – with all three announcements made at the organisation’s exclusive Season Ticket Holders event on Thursday 7th May at the Odyssey Arena.
Colin Shields, the Giants all-time leading points scorer and goal scorer, will suit up for his 8th season in Belfast, playing in 370 games – posting 154 goals and 288 assists – good for 442 points overall. Shields, 35 who hails from Glasgow, was selected 195th overall in the 2000 NHL draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and the Team GB regular played his first season as a Giant in 2005/06 – winning his first Elite League title with the organisation, before going on to win the Challenge Cup and Knockout Cup in 2009, the 2010 Playoff championship before lifting the league trophy once more in 2013/14.
Mark Garside’s re-signing sees another Scottish and Team GB forward added to the 2015/16 Giants lineup with the 26 year old pulling on a teal jersey for a sixth season in-a-row. From East Kilbride, Garside signed for the Giants first back in 2010 after four seasons with the Edinburgh Capitals, and has become a firm fans favourite with the Teal Army in Belfast – posting 137 points in 259 games played. In his Giants career to date, Garside has won two major championships, the Elite League title triumphs in 2011/12 and 2013/14.
Netminder Andrew Dickson, from Ballymoney, adored by many of the Giants fanbase as well as by teammates in the locker room, will make the 2015/16 season his fifth season in-a-row with his local team. Helping the organisation to Elite League titles in the 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons – Dickson, 27, will return as backup to Stephen Murphy when the 2015/16 season begins in September.
