Hi Giants fans! Here we are, almost 2 months into the season and almost 2 months since my last blog! For that I am sorry, it won’t happen again. I have to admit I have been a little nervous about writing in my blog after reading the Robin’s Nest. I mean come on, can that guy write or what? My blog looks like it was written by a ten year old after reading Bobby’s, however, I am going to battle on, write and swallow my pride.
There is so much to talk about I am not sure where to start. I don’t think anyone could ask for a better start to the season, well maybe a win last Friday against Coventry, but we won’t talk about that! We are in first place, 4-0 in the Cup so far. I think we have something special going so far this year and I am very confident that we can keep it going. During out little rise to the top of the Elite League, there has been some bumps in the road. A couple of injuries, some battles with certain teams, and mix in a suspension here or there. With all that said, there has been some great hockey played so far and with a couple of top teams still to visit Belfast, it is only going to get better. How can we not mention the atmosphere at the Od, I think it has been great so far and i t really helps us on the ice with all that extra support in the stands. I am not sure if it is the hockey or the sub cannon that people are coming to the games for. That thing it is the talk of the league, well done to TK for coming up with that one.
I am sure you have all read enough about hockey, so lets get to some of the other exciting things that we hockey players get up to. I have to admit that along with the winning part, I am having a lot of fun this year at the rink and away from it too. We do have a great group of guys on the team and that makes for some good laughs. I will use my opportunity here to take some well needed shots at guys while I can! Everyone seems to be settling into the city and the routine well. Today we went to paint-ball and it was a blast, but Dave Phillips is by far the worst paintballer I have ever seen. He must have about 50 welts on his body, he by far led the team in hits taken today. I have to respect him though, he took it like the trooper he is and kept the boys laughing the whole day through, well played Dave. There are a few of us who have been golfing quite a bit when the weather permits, and I have to be honest and say I haven’t lost a match yet. I won’t tell you who the big losers have been so far as to not to embarrass them. We did try an indoor golf place in town (City Golf) it was pretty awesome, very realistic and with the walking part taken out of the game it makes it almost perfect. We did have a competition there but it was for the worst looking golf swing! I could go on and on here with funny stories from the year so far, but I will save some for my next blog which won’t be in 2 months I promise.
See you at the rink.
