26-year-old Defenceman Cam Knight joins the Belfast Giants after spending the 2020-21 season in Denmark with Esbjerg Energy, playing alongside former Giant Jordan Smotherman. In fact, the offensively minded D-man credits ‘Smo’ with his decision to make the move to the SSE Arena.

The Massachusetts native says the great things Jordan Smotherman had to say about the Teal Army, the city and the organisation proved pivotal in his decision to sign for Belfast.

Knight amassed 21 points in Denmark (4 goals, 17 assists), continuing a trend of offensive production that has been evident throughout his career. In 2019-20, he posted 24 points (8 goals, 16 assists) with the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers, and has long been considered a go-to name for the power play unit.

Knight played college hockey with the NCAA’s University of North Alabama-Huntsville, amassing 45 points across 131 games played for the Chargers. Healthy numbers for a Defenceman who is also rock solid on the blue line.

A spell in the ECHL was to follow for Knight after graduating, where, after a brief spell with the Fort Wayne Komets, he found his feet with the Tulsa Oilers, sharing a locker room with fellow new Giants signing J.J. Piccinich.
