25 year-old Pelle moves to Belfast from the Cardiff Devils where he had a record-breaking year scoring 55 goals and 55 assists for a total of 110 points over the season. The American forward from West Islip, New York, led the league in scoring and set a new league points record along the way. Whilst studying at Harvard, Pelle won both the East Coast Athletic Conference and IVY League Championships before turning pro and playing in the Central Hockey League where we won the league title with fellow newcomer LeBlanc and the Rapid City Rush in 2009/2010.
In his first season in the Elite League last year with the Cardiff Devils he won Forward of the Year as well as the award for Newcomer of the Year. Pelle is expected to continue his scoring streak this season as he brings his brand of exciting, fast-paced hockey to Belfast.
“Jon excelled in our league last season. Actually, he dominated the scoring race all season long. This is a great coup for the Giants to sign a player that was one of the superstars in the Elite League last year. He knows how to put the puck in the net and we expect him to be one of the best players in the league again next season.”
