Another blog from yours truly
Posted: Tuesday 13th November 2007
Another blog for yours truly, you must really like what I have to say, or maybe im the only one in the office today, either way here is my take on the team the last couple of weeks.
Despite all the injuries, we have managed to get back on track and although we had to make some changes, which is always tough to do, the moves we made have paid off in a big way with every player coming in making a positive contribution to the line-up. Obviously bringing in Stevie Lyle has made the biggest difference of all. He has given us the confidence that when we do screw up, he will be there to make the big saves.
In fact, all the new guys; Shane, Soupy, and Sutsy have all made their mark and impressed their new teammates. Well not all new teammates, having Shane back in Belfast is like the prodigal son coming home as he's been around longer than most of us but he has boosted the defensive unit in a big way, particularly with Roman and Trevor still out, we needed to have a veteran defenceman like Shane back on the blueline.
Speaking of defence, people keep asking me whether I like playing 'D' or if I prefer forward. To be honest, I would play goalie if it meant it would help the team, I just want to win and now that we are putting together a few victories, I am happy to play wherever Eddy wants me to. Plus I kind of like getting to hammer a few unsuspecting forwards from the other team that keep coming into the zone with their head down, but that is one of the perks of the job I guess.
Whether or not I stay on defence depends on if and when we get more players back in the line-up but a team needs players to play different roles and whichever position Eddy thinks that I will be making the biggest impact and helping out the team, that is where I will be staying.
We have a tough week of hockey over the next few days with a home game against Cardiff and then away to Newcastle on Sunday. Two teams ahead of us in the standings but two teams that havn't seen us since we made the changes. In fact, the last time we faced Cardiff at home, Shane Johnson was playing for the Devils, Stevie and Pete were Bison, Sutter was still in Canada, I was playing forward and Killer was watching from the press box. We are a completely different team than a few short weeks ago and a team that is coming off a couple good wins over the weekend.
Thanks for reading, I know you can't wait for my next blog...
