The majority shareholder of the Belfast Giants is JIm Gillespie, who originally got involved with the Giants as an owner back in 2003. Gillespie was born and raised in Northern Ireland and graduated in Civil Engineering at Queens University, Belfast. His career ambitions took him to live and work in Continental Europe and then in the United States of America.
Since retiring in 2001, Jim and his wife Mitzi have divided their time between the United States and Northern Ireland. Jim is a huge sports fan, enjoying Basketball, Golf, American Football, Rugby and Ice Hockey. He is a firm believer in cross community integration through sport, which is why his interest in the Giants led to becoming an owner. Jim became involved with the Belfast Giants because he was impressed with the commitment they showed to the community that supported them and the way the team appealed to everyone in Northern Ireland no matter where they came from or what religious background they had.
