For the second time this season Stingrays pushed a dagger into the Giants league title hopes as they sent Steve Thornton’s men home pointless with a 3-2 victory at Hull Ice Arena with new netminder Martins Raitums making 37 saves.

Stingrays took the opening period with a single goal by Konstantin Kalmikov (23rd) at 11.49 despite being outshot 16 to 9 but saw Giants equalize at 23.19 with a strike by EIHL top scorer Colin Shields (32nd). The home side did not let that get them down however and roared back with a go-ahead goal by Jeff Glowa (8th) at 27.11 shorthanded before extending their advantage at 34.32 thanks to Pavel Gomenyuk (3rd).

Giants not surprisingly piled on the pressure in the third period but took until 53.33 to make their play count as Pierre-Luc Faubert (12th) made it 3-2. Try as they might they were unable to beat the impressive Raitums again and Stingrays claimed full points at the final buzzer.
