Pelle Hat Trick In 7-1 Win Brings Flyers Back To Earth

The Giants have now opened up a four-point lead over second place Nottingham despite an early scare. Having gone a goal behind they then hit seven without reply to run out easy winners with Jon Pelle picking up a hat trick.

The home side opened the scoring with a goal from Matt Siddall at 2.44. Despite Belfast having 20 shots on goal in the first period it took them until 18.43 to get back on level terms with a goal from Craig Peacock.

The second period was a one-way procession as Zemlak faced 19 shots given up only the one at 32.10 as Giants went in front with a strike from Darryl Lloyd on a shorthanded situation.

Fife goalie Zemlak once again faced a barrage of shots in the third period 26 in total and in the process gave up five goals. The first of these came at 45.03 from Jon Pelle.

Then they gave up three goals in just over a minute the first of these came at 49.25 on the powerplay from Jeremy Rebek and then 25 seconds later Adam Keefe made it 5-1. Pelle got his second goal of the game at 50.40 and completed his hat trick on the powerplay at 54.52.
