Yet another shutout and man of the match performance from Stephen Murphy helped the LBM Belfast Giants to the top of the Elite League as they recorded their second win in as many nights against the Nottingham Panthers.
After being ejected from the game last night in Belfast, Jeff Szwez struck twice in the first 5 minutes to give the Giants an early lead. The first goal came on the powerplay at 02:50 and the second at 04:57 this time with the Panther having the man advantage.
Panthers Mario Larocque (Fighting) and Sean McMorrow (Checking From Behind) were both ejected from the game at 35:40 capping off a penalty filled second period.
Again Kevin StPierre was beaten with the home team having a man advantage when the on form Brandon Benedict added the Giants 3rd. Benedict then turned provider as Colin Shields netted the Giants 4th leaving them in a 3 way tie at the top of the Elite League with Coventry and Nottingham all tied on 26 points.
