The Stena Line Belfast Giants will be without Darryl Lloyd for 4-6 weeks as a result of an injury that he sustained against the Nottingham Panthers. Darryl Lloyd leads the league in short-handed goals and is the Giants second leading goal scorer. Lloyd has quickly become a fan favorite and will be missed at the Odyssey. Paul Deniset will return to the line-up on Wednesday and James Hutchinson returns to the ice against the Braehead Clan on Friday night.

Belfast Giants coach Doug Christiansen commented, “Losing Lloyd is a massive blow. His tenacious style has been one of our strengths all year. He has been great on the penalty kill, as well as, on the power play. He really stepped up since the departure of Brock McBride. He has 9 goals and 11 assists in his last 10 games and has been one of our top players. We will need other players to step up if we are to achieve our goals.”

Christiansen also discussed the addition of another import player, “We are still looking to add to our team. There are not many top level players on the market currently. There are a number of average players on the market but we really need an impact player. If we are going to bring in a player, we will do our best to sign a first line player.”
