Shane Johnson and his squad of former teammates and Giant greats took to the ice on Tuesday morning in preparation for Wednesday Night’s Testimonial Match in honour of Johnson.
Number 4 dusted off his skates this week along with Rob Stewart, Jason Bowen, Colin Ward, Paxton Schulte and Todd Kelman, who commented on the team Shane put together.
“It looks like an All-Star Team, only problem is the year should be 2004. I think if the moves in my head can transform to my feet and my hands, I might be okay, but right now my feet can’t keep up!”
Kelman is really looking forward to Shane’s big night and hopes to fill the stands in honour of Johnson’s career.
“He’s the best defenceman we ever had. There were players that came and went that had great years, but Shane put together an amazing career here in Belfast. He played more games, he won more championships than any other player. He is what being a Giant is all about. He gave this organisation so much, and I hope the people come out on Wednesday to show him how much we all have enjoyed watching him over the years.”
Wednesday’s game faces off at 7pm, Doors open at 6pm. There will be special edition Johnson Testimonial t-shirts to purchase on the night as well as a shirt off the back raffle for the current Giants Testimonial Match jerseys as well as a post game auction in Rockies for the Johnson All-Stars jerseys. The after match party will continue in Rockies until late.
