A second weekend home loss for league leading Steelers but again they took a point from it with the game going to overtime where Steve Thornton grabbed the game winner for Giants. However there will be great disappointment in the home ranks as they squandered a 3-2 lead with less than ten minutes to play.

An exciting opening period saw four goals shared. The home side jumped to a two-goal lead with counters from Robert Dowd (17th) at 2.04 on the powerplay and then Ashley Tait (19th) at 13.13 before Giants stormed back and tied the contest with goals by Bobby Robins (20th) at 15.52 and Evan Cheverie (17th) on the powerplay at 18.56.

A very tight second period looked like producing stalemate but at 38.35 Steelers were back in the lead as Joey Talbot (24th) found the net.

Giants turned the pressure on in the third period but once again Jody Lehman was in great form between the Steelers pipes. However, he was helpless at 52.29 as Paul Deniset (24th) fired home on the powerplay to make it 3-3 and with no further scoring the game went to overtime, where at 61.17 Thornton hit the game winner for the Giants, his 9th of the season, to keep their own title hopes still very much alive.
