LBM Belfast Giants coach, Steve Thornton has labelled this weekend as the most important of the Elite League season so far as he sees his side face off against their rivals for the Elite League title. Sunday sees the Giants travel to Nottingham for a showdown against the side the Giants defeated twice at home in the memorable double header at the end of January. But first up for the Belfast franchise is the league leaders, the Coventry Blaze who are in town on Saturday, face off 7pm @ the Odyssey Arena, aiming to stretch their lead at the top to seven points.
Speaking to Top Shelf, the official match night magazine of the LBM Belfast Giants, Thornton had this to say, “We are now heading down the home stretch with some huge games coming up with none being bigger than Saturday’s. If we want to finish ahead of Coventry in the standings, we need to find a way to beat them, something that has proved elusive so far this year. They are a very well rounded team that has had good goaltending all season. We have played some pretty good games at home against them but haven’t been able to capitalize on our opportunities. Guys know how important this weekend is and I am confident that everyone will be emptying their tanks out there for the cause.”
Top Shelf Magazine will be on sale on Saturday night’s game against Coventry in the foyer of the Odyssey Arena before the game and during period breaks, priced £3.
Tickets for Saturday night’s match up against the Coventry Blaze can be purchased from the Odyssey Arena Box Office on (028) 9073 9074 or via Ticketmaster by clicking here
