Giants Looking For Blood

The Aer Lingus Belfast Giants have launched a special appeal for blood donors “to get their skates on and give blood”. This initiative has come about in support of one of Giants’ biggest fans, Tom Simpson, who needs blood every two to three weeks.  Tom is only 11 years old and suffers from a rare form of anaemia which means he needs the support of blood donors.  Tom and his family joined the Giants at the Blood Transfusion unit earlier this week for the launch of the appeal.

Jon Gleed, one of the first donors on the day, was pleased to support Tom and others who need blood.  ”It is incredible to think that my blood will help save someone’s life this week. It only takes a few minutes out of your day to donate but it is so important that we do as blood stocks are so low”.
