Giants completed a great four-point weekend and ensured Vipers weekend was pointless with this stunning road shutout, with Stephen Murphy making 23 saves and Jeff Szwez grabbing a treble.

Also counting for Giants were Craig Peacock (2), Mike Jacobsen, Colin Shields and Brandon Benedict.

The visitors took the lead at 10.32 with a strike by Peacock (10th) and added to it at 18.44 as Benedict (8th) fire home.

The second period saw Giants take complete control as they put the game out of Vipers reach. Szwez (8th) scored first at 26.52 and he was followed by Peacock’s (11th) second of the game at 29.10 on the powerplay. Shields (16th) helped himself to number five at 36.13 before the periods scoring ended with Jacobsen (4th) at 37.41.

Little let up from the visitors in the third period as goaltender Michel Robinson was seen off as Szwez (9th & 10th) scored twice more on the powerplay at 45.11 and 54.10 and there would be little doubt that the home side would be glad to hear the final buzzer without further damage.
