The Stena Line Belfast Giants made it 3 wins in 4 nights with a convincing 3-1 victory over the Fife Flyers in Kirkaldy. The Giants got on the board in the opening minutes as defenceman Will Colbert scored his second goal in as many nights with Daymen Rycroft and Graeme Walton picking up assists. The Giants marginally outshot their hosts in the opening period as both teams had their fair share of scoring chances and power play opportunities.
Rycroft would prove to be an influential figure in the Giants success and after picking up a point in the first period, Rycroft turned provider again, this time feeding Andrew Fourner who fired past Pitton to make it 2-0 just before the mid way point in the game.
Despite heavily out shooting the home team in both the second and third periods the Giants were finding it difficult to breakdown Fife’s defence, and it was in fact a member of the Flyers defence corps who would be next to tally on the score sheet. Derek Keller brought the game within one goal as he found a way past Murphy with the Flyers making good use of some powerplay time mid way through the third period.
With time running down the fans in the arena were on the edges of their seats as the outcome of game hung in the balance, however it was once again Rycroft who would feature, this time netting the Giants third goal and his fifth of the season to secure another 2 points in the Elite League standings.
