The Giants skated back to the top of the league standings with their third shutout victory of the season, this one seeing Nathan Craze, gain his first with 24 saves against the in form Edinburgh Capitals at the Ice Bowl.
Giants were always the stronger team and outshot their visitors by nearly 2 to 1 but found stubborn opposition defence throughout, only really securing victory with two late goals.
Other than Craze between the pipes, stars of the show for Giants were Tom Walsh with 2+1, Jeff Szwez 1+2 and Brandon Benedict 0+4.
Giants had managed a perfect start and scored early at 3.13 with Walsh grabbing his first of the season but although they dominated it took until 38.33 for Walsh (2) to again find the net and give the home side a 2-0 lead at the second period interval.
Capitals refused to capitulate and put Giants under some pressure as they enjoyed more of the game in the third period but the home side put the game away with late strikes by Craig Peacock (8) at 53.40 and Jeff Szwez (4) at 56.53 and at the final buzzer were celebrating being top of the league after Nottingham’s loss tonight.
