An early season top of the table clash with Giants going in having won their last six but Steelers coming off a shock reverse at the hands of Fife the previous night.
Not surprisingly there was little in it all night but come the final buzzer it was Steelers who were back on track after winning by the odd goal in three with a game winner from Steven Goertzen as early as the 21st minute keeping the points in the Steel City.
Giants had been quick to take the early initiative and after only 3.01 were ahead thanks to a powerplay strike by Craig Peacock. Steelers hit back however and at 11.28 their own powerplay unit worked and new NHL signing Tom Sestito scored to tie it up.
Only 19 seconds into the second period and Steelers scored what proved to be the game winner with Goertzen in position to fire past Stephen Murphy in the Giants cage.
No further scoring but Sestito picked up his first UK fight at 37.36 as he exchanged pleasantries with Giants Greg Stewart.
Giants did pressure the home net on several occasions but John DeCaro stopped everything thrown at him and Steelers were celebrating both points at the final buzzer.
