Despite outshooting the home side by almost 2 to 1 it took the Giants until three and a half minutes into overtime, before they got the vital goal, to give them the extra point to keep them at the top of the standings.
It actually turned out to be a masterstroke from Giants coach Doug Christiansen as he called a time out at 63.26 and twenty seconds later he saw his team score the game winning goal.
The visitors had chances throughout the game including a four-minute powerplay in the first period as well as one in the second. They also had a 5 on 3 at the end of the first and the start of the second but could not find a way past ChrisWhitley in the Dundee goal.
After 60 minutes of hockey had concluded and both teams picked up a point for the Challenge Cup part of the game it went into overtime. The game was finally settled at 63.46 as Brock McBride netted the goal to give the Giants the win.
