Robert Dowd led the offensive charge this weekend for the Stena Lien Belfast Giants with back to back 4 point nights in the two wins over the Coventry Blaze.  On Friday Night, Dowd scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season with the first 2 goals for the Giants.

He assisted on the next 2, including the game winner scored by Aaron Clarke midway through the 3rd period.  On Saturday night, Dowd figured in on all 4 of the Giants goals, assisting on the first 2 goals of the game before scoring the third himself for his 17th goal of the season. He also picked up an assist on the game winner by Aaron Clarke with just under 9 minutes remaining in the game.  Dowd is now second on the Giants in scoring with 16 goals and 21 assists for 37 points in 28 games.

“I thought this past weekend, Aaron had his two best games of the season. He was working harder than I have seen him work all season long. Not to say he isn’t normally a hard worker, but he just took it to another level this weekend and he showed that he can be a dominant player in this league.”

”He went hard to the net all night long and scored 2 huge goals for us. I think he was a bit down because of the suspension he got against Sheffield, but he is definitely back and I am glad that he is playing the style of game we saw on Friday and Saturday night.”

Aaron Clarke picked up a goal and an assist in each of the two games this past weekend, but more importantly both his goals were game winners coming in the final 10 minutes of the 3rd period both nights.General Manager Todd Kelman spoke about the impressive play of Clarke as of late.
